John Aldis was born in around 1889 in Saxlingham Nethergate. In the 1911 Census he is shown as living with his aunt and uncle in the village. His occupation is given as “bricklayer/labourer”.
Whilst researching John Aldis’ War Records we have encountered two records that may be John Aldis Junior, St. Mary’s Bell-ringer:
- enlisted April 1912 – 4th Battalion, Riffle Regiment;
- enlisted 13th December 1915 – Army Service Corps.
More research is needed to find out which of these records relates to the John Aldis pictured above.
