George Poyntz

George Poyntz – 1910

George was born in Saxlingham Nethergate on 11th March 1890 to Ellen (née Aldis) and William Points. The 1911 Census shows him living in the village with his parents, one sister and seven brothers.  In 1915 he enlisted in the Army Veterinary Corps as a Horseman.

In 1916 he married Florence Mary Scrancher (1891 to 1975).  They had three children.  George died in the September quarter of 1972 in Norwich.  He is buried in Saxlingham Churchyard.

(Note: We have found George’s surname spelled Pointz, Poyntz, Points, Poynts and even Pozntz.  We found George’s signature on his War records – he used the spelling Poyntz)
