Welcome to the website for the Bells and Tower Restoration Project for the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Saxlingham Nethergate.
We will be using this website to keep you up-to-date with everything this project involves – we actively encourage everyone to get involved and will be holding events to allow you to see the project as it progresses, learn about the history of Saxlingham Nethergate, the Church of St. Mary the Virgin and bell-ringing.
Currently we have displays in the Church and Church Room giving the history of the bells, we will be organising talks on the history of the Church, village, bell-ringing and bell founding and hanging, as well as family history seminars amongst other things.
If you have any ideas for events or any specific questions you would like us to address please do not hesitate to leave a comment or send an email to info @ saxlinghambells.org.uk (remove the spaces before and after the @ sign).
This is an opportunity for the community to learn about bells and the art of bell-ringing. The last time the bells were brought down from the tower was in 1908. This really is a once in one hundred years event we look forward to sharing with you!
